Having jumped straight into a month-long internship in Bristol after finishing my second year of university in June, it felt as if summer was quickly passing me by. But after a whirlwind week of last minute surf trips, moving out of my house down south and visiting friends in London, some much-needed summer sun awaited me on the small Greek island of Mykonos.
Thankfully, my mother is a self-proclaimed Myconian expert, and I was quite content to let her take the lead and show me all of her favourite places around the island. She took us to boutiques and beach bars, tiny tavernas hidden at the end of dirt tracks and the best sunset spots.
The island had a friendlier, more authentic vibe compared to its Balearic counterpart, being perfectly happy in its own skin, but it never lacked the style or music to give Ibiza a run for its money. Add to this the warm welcoming smiles and can-do attitude of the island’s ethos, and you have yourself the perfect Grecian escape.
Look out for my Mykonos travel guide coming to the blog soon!
